Railway Orphanage Foundation

The charitable foundation Eisenbahn-Waisenhort ( EWH ) supports socially disadvantaged and needy children, young people and families. It is a self-help facility for employees of Deutsche Bahn and the federal railroad assets with around 200,000 voluntary donors.

The EWH is closely linked to the Bahn-Sozialwerk Foundation (BSW) in the BSW & EWH family of foundations ;

Foundation purpose

  • Implementation of mother / father-child cures
  • Implementation of parent-child coaching
  • Subsidies and implementation of children's and youth camps
  • Financial support for children, young people and families in need (through emergency aid, one-off or ongoing payments or benefits in kind)
  • Grants for studies, school and vocational training
  • Care of half, full or social orphans in socio-educational permanent living groups
  • Subsidies for accommodation in other homes

history

In 1902, the "Töchterhort" was founded and a few years after the merger of the German railways it was merged with the "Knabenhort" founded in 1922 to form the "Reichsbahn orphanage". From 1945 this was renamed the "Railway Orphanage".
