The SENS is a non-profit foundation by Swiss law and appears to the outside with the brand SENS eRecycling on. It operates a nationwide take-back system for electrical and electronic devices as well as for lighting. SENS promotes privately organized recycling solutions with regard to sustainability in recycling, collection and logistics. It finances its services with the advance recycling fee (ARF).

history

The foundation was established in 1990. In 1991 she led throughout Switzerland, the cooling device Vignette one and the same year they founded the IGEE-SENS ( I NTERESTS g ommunity E lektroapparate- E ISPOSAL), which developed the disposal concept REGENO. 1992 Should the concept be implemented in industry associations without further involvement of IGEE or SENS.

In 1994, SWICO introduced the VREG on office electronics. Two years later, SENS resumed work on a more far-reaching disposal model and included the wholesale and household appliance industries. In 1988 the foundation introduced the new label “Disposal secured!”.

In the years 2002–2005 the VRG was introduced to entertainment electronics, large household appliances, small household appliances, refrigerators, air conditioners and freezers, toys with electrical components and lights and lamps. In 2008, over 600 manufacturers and importers had already joined the SENS disposal system and around 454,000 large household appliances, 325,000 refrigerators and 13,300 tons of small appliances were collected. Due to the great growth, the SENS International Foundation was founded, which is committed to the environmentally friendly disposal of refrigerators in emerging countries.

In 2013 the brand SENS eRecycling was created together with the new CI / CD and the company name was changed to Stiftung SENS.
