The North Hollywood High School (NHHS) is a public high school in the district of North Hollywood of Los Angeles . It was founded in 1927 and has around 2500 students. The NHHS is part of the United School District of Los Angeles .

North Hollywood High School is a magnet school and has three magnet programs: The Highly Gifted Magnet is reserved for highly gifted students with an IQ of over 145, the STEM Magnet offers in-depth instruction in the MINT subjects, and the Biological Sciences / Zoo Magnet , which is in Cooperation with the Los Angeles Zoo is offered on a separate campus, mainly comprises courses in biology , especially zoology .
North Hollywood High School also offers a wide variety of musical programs. The school has a marching band , an orchestra , a jazz band , a choir and a drum line, as well as an AP course in music theory.
Demographics
North Hollywood High School had a total of 2,501 students and 102.50 full-time equivalent teaching positions in the 2017/18 school year . This resulted in a student / teacher ratio of 24.40. The majority of the student body was male: for 1,339 students there were 1,162 students. In the 2017/18 school year, 749 students attended the ninth, 649 the tenth, 537 the eleventh and 566 students the twelfth. With 1,744 students, the majority of the student body belonged to the Hispanic ethnic group . This was followed by whites with 391 students, Asians with 242 students and African-Americans with 89 students. Seven students were Native Americans and four were Pacific Islanders. 24 students belonged to two or more ethnic groups. 1,668 students were entitled to free lunch and 191 to discounted lunch.
School sports
The North Hollywood High School school teams compete under the name NHHS Huskies in the leagues of the CIF Los Angeles City Section. Sports offered include baseball , basketball , cheerleading , cross-country skiing , American football , golf , soccer , softball , tennis , athletics, and volleyball .
