Foundation for Severely Disabled Lucerne SSBL

The Foundation for Severely Handicapped Lucerne SSBL accompanies and looks after people with intellectual and multiple disabilities. In the canton of Lucerne there are 40 residential groups and various day groups for 412 women, men and children. The SSBL offers the areas of living, work and employment as well as leisure. The SSBL employs 875 people. The management and administration are located in Rathausen near Emmen .

history

It was founded on November 16, 1971. The initiative came from the Association of Parents and Friends of the Mentally Handicapped (today insieme), the Swiss Parents' Association for the benefit of cerebrally paralyzed children, the Central Switzerland regional group and Pro Infirmis . In 1983 the vacant buildings in the former children's village Rathausen were taken over. Rathausen became the headquarters of the SSBL. The name change from the Foundation for the Severely Handicapped to the Foundation for the Severely Handicapped Lucerne SSBL took place in 1990. The day care center Triva has been run since 2002 together with the Brändi Foundation .

In the SSBL, 412 women, men and children with a disability are cared for:

  • 310 places for adults
  • 45 day places
  • In the Weidmatt special educational children's home , 17 children with various disabilities from infancy to school enrollment are encouraged, cared for and looked after.
  • 10 guest places
  • 30 people work in the day care center Triva, which is a joint offer of the Brändi Foundation and the SSBL.

financing

The SSBL has had a performance mandate and a performance agreement with the Canton of Lucerne since 2008. The SSBL is recognized in accordance with the law on social institutions of the Canton of Lucerne. The SSBL bears the Zewo seal of approval, which distinguishes non-profit organizations for the conscientious handling of donations.
