Stig Broeckx (born May 10, 1990 in Mol ) is a former Belgian cyclist .

Broeckx won the Antwerp provincial championships in the individual time trial in 2013 . From August 2013 he drove as a trainee with the UCI ProTeam , with which he received a regular contract the following year. For this team he contested the Giro d'Italia 2015 , among others , but could not finish the race.

During the third stage of the Tour of Belgium in 2016 at the end of May 2016, Broeckx suffered cerebral hemorrhage as a result of a fall and fell into a coma after two accompanying motorcycles got into the peloton in a collision and brought down 20 riders. A month later, doctors announced that Broeckx had severe brain injuries and was still in a coma. It is uncertain whether he will ever regain consciousness. In December 2016, the team doctor stated that Broeckx could now speak again and eat independently; However, the road to full recovery is still long.
