Stinear Island is an island in Holme Bay on the Mawson Coast of Mac Robertson Land, East Antarctica . In the group of Flat Islands , it is 300 m north of Béchervaise Island
It was mapped by Norwegian cartographers using aerial photographs from the Lars Christensen expedition in 1936/37 . The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named it after the New Zealand geologist Bruce Harry Stinear (1913-2003), who worked in 1954, 1957 and 1959 at Mawson Station .
