The STOBAG AG is an internationally operating Swiss manufacturer of sun blinds, awnings and weather protection solutions. The family company with headquarters in Muri / AG employs 700 people worldwide (2019) and sells its weather protection systems through various subsidiaries and specialist retail partners in 35 countries.

history

STOBAG AG was founded in 1964 by Ernst Gremaud in an old cider cellar in Langnau-Gattikon. The company name is derived from “STOren-BAu Gattikon”. In 1968, STOBAG began selling components for awnings and roller shutters abroad. Product innovations and range expansions for sun protection in architecture , as well as the launch of the patented telescopic arm technology for large awnings opened up new markets. The company grew and sales in Italy, Austria, Brazil and Holland were expanded with subsidiaries. The expansion of the company brought with it several moves of the parent company. From 1988 the location in Muri / AG was continuously expanded and expanded.

In 2012 an awning production facility was put into operation. The sun and weather protection systems are individually manufactured in terms of frame colors ( powder coating of the aluminum components in RAL / NCS ) and fabric designs.

Alain Michel, the grandson of the company founder, has been running the company in the 3rd generation since 2019. Since the handover to the third generation, Gianni Gremaud has remained as the company's administrative president.
