Stockalperweg
The Stockalperweg is an old mule track that leads from Brig over the Simplon Pass and through the Gondoschlucht to Gondo . The existing historical mule track was expanded in the 17th century by the Brig merchant Kaspar Stockalper in order to promote trade across the Alps with mule columns .
The Via Stockalper is a Swiss cultural hiking trail that follows in Stockalper's footsteps on the Stockalperweg from Brig ( 720 m ) over the Simplon Pass ( 2006 m ) to Gondo ( 855 m ).
