Stockalper Castle
The Stockalperschloss even Stockalperpalast called, was from 1651 to 1671 in the Valais City Brig in Switzerland by Kaspar Stockalper built.
It is characterized by a four-story main building, three towers and a three-story arcaded courtyard . The square towers made of granite blocks with gilded onion domes are named Kaspar , Melchior and Balthasar , which is to be understood as an allusion to the three holy kings . A first look reveals the relationship between the three towers of the baroque building of the Stockalper Castle in Brig and the medieval onion dome of St. Niklaus .
In 1948 the castle came into the possession of the city of Brig and has housed the town hall since 1960. There is also a museum in the castle. With an area of 1280 square meters, the castle courtyard occasionally serves as a backdrop for concerts and performances.
Since 2010, the courtyard and the park have also been accessible on Google Street View .
The Stockalper Castle stands at the beginning of the Stockalperweg , which leads from Brig over the Simplon Pass , past Stockalper's old hospice to Gondo .
