Stone Castle is a castle in the village of Stone near Bluewater in the English county of Kent . It was built between 1135 and 1140 near where William the Conqueror signed the treaty with the men of Kent in 1067 .

history

The castle belonged to the Wiltshire family , which included Bridget Wingfield , a close friend of Anne Boleyn , whose correspondence was used to convict the Queen of adultery. In 1527 Thomas Wolsey , Thomas More and the Earl of Derby visited the castle. This was around the time King Henry VIII first fought to marry Anne Boleyn, who lived at Hever Castle , 20 miles away.

In the Second World War had RAF Castle confiscated. Today it is owned by Blue Circle and its land was leased to Land Securities in 2000 . Today the castle is home to a private ambulance company, Savoy Ventures .
