Stony Brook is the name of a subway station owned by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in the Boston neighborhood of Jamaica Plain in the state of Massachusetts in the United States . It provides access to the subway line Orange Line .

history

The station opened on May 4, 1987 as part of the renovation and relocation of the Orange Line parallel to the Northeast Corridor .

The underground station has a total of two tracks, which are accessible via a central platform .

building

The subway station is located in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood at 100 Boylston Street at 180 Lamartine Street . The building is completely barrier-free .

As part of the MBTA Arts on the Line project, the ceramic mosaic "Life Around Here" by Malou Flato was installed in the station. In addition, outside the station there are two granite monuments with engraved texts ("Mrs. Baez Serves Coffee on the Third Floor" by Martin Espada and "The Dinner" by Rosario Morales ).

Since line 48 was closed on July 1, 2012, Stony Brook has been one of the few stations without a connection to the MBTA bus routes .
