Stop-and-go penalty

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A stop-and-go penalty (of English. Stop and go penalty ) is a sentence in motorsport .

It can be imposed in the event of an unauthorized pit stop, a premature start or various other offenses against the regulations. The driver in question is requested by the race management by flag signs and an information board to drive into the pit lane and stop there for ten seconds before he can participate in the race again. In Formula 1 , this is communicated by his crew today via radio.

The peculiarity of the stop-and-go penalty, compared to the drive-through penalty , is that the car is forced to stand still for ten seconds. Nothing on the car may be changed during these ten seconds.
