A member of a stopping club presents the stopper. This is a metal plug; Cork and hard rubber stoppers are widely used by other stopping clubs.

A stopping club (sometimes also called a stopping club , stopping club , stopping club or stopping club ) is a sociable association whose members must always carry a stopper with them.

regulate

When two club members meet, one can ask the other to show his stopper. If a member cannot show the stopper, e.g. B. because he left him at home, then the forgetful member has to pay a small fine. Some clubs allow exceptions if the members are dressed in pajamas or swimming trunks. Others only require it to be shown at official events and meetings. These fines are often used to pay the beer for the club members present at the next club meeting.

history

Stopping clubs have been widespread in Bavaria since at least the middle of the 20th century, but there have been a few decades earlier. Stopselclubs are organized as independent local associations that are part of the club life in many Bavarian towns. Occasionally, stopping clubs also support charitable projects. The Stopselclub was mentioned in the Kursbuch magazine in 1975 . The statutes of the Stopselclub Dietramszell were mentioned in the catalog book for the state exhibition Bavaria, Germania, Europe: History in Bavarian of the House of Bavarian History .
