The Storegg Bank is a submarine bank in the cooperation lake . It is located about 45 km off the Mawson coast of the East Antarctic Mac Robertson Land .
She was discovered by the crew of the Norwegian factory ship Solglimt on January 9, 1934, when they determined an abrupt rise in the Antarctic continental shelf from 5100 to 310 m during deep sounding . She thought it was the edge of a large deep sea ridge and named it Storeggen ( Norwegian for Great Ridge ). The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia translated this name into English in an adapted form.
