Strünkede (noble family)

The Lords of Strünkede were a noble family. Seats were Strünkede Castle , Krudenburg and Dorneburg House in today's Herne .

A Wessel von Strünkede, feudal man of the Counts of Kleve , was first mentioned in a document in 1142 as a witness in a dispute with the Essen monastery . With the death of Johann Conrad Freiherr von Strünkede in 1742, the line at Strünkede Castle died out, and in 1777 the line at Dorneburg. The last traces of the male descendants are lost in the 19th century.
