Life

Origin and family

Johann Conrad von Strünckede was a member of the main line of the barons of Strünckede , whose tribe he decided. His parents were Gottfried von Strünckede and Sibylla Gertrud, née von der Recke zur Horst . In 1700 he married Sophia Wilhelmina Freiin von Hüchtenbrock (1681–1755), a daughter of the Klevian Chamberlain and Land Commissioner Albert Georg Freiherr von Hüchtenbrock, and Gertrud Sophie, née Freiin von Diepenbroick zur Impel . None of the numerous children of this marriage got married or survived the father, so Ludwig von Strünkede zu Dorneburg (1699-1753) was used as a universal heir. In 1777 the male line of the sex became extinct .

Career

Due to the early death of his father, Strünckede had been the heir to the rule of Strünkede with Herne, Sodingen , Marnix (in the Jura department ) and Pöppinghausen since 1681 . In 1697 he was finally enfeoffed with rule and court Strünkede. Through his marriage, he also had the Bellevue rule , which he had legally owned since 1708.

He studied law and had a position in the government in Kleve since 1708, where he was initially administrator of the Bochum and Castrop offices and soon became chief herald's councilor. In 1713 he became president of the Kleve-Märkische Amtskammer and thus the highest judge in Kleve. After a trial between 1714 and 1717, he received the approval of the Castrop court, which his great-grandfather had already held. In 1719 he was a member of the General Finance Ministry, then Vice President of the Klevisch-Märkische Chamber with the rank of Chancellor . On January 6, 1721 he advanced to the Real Secret Council and was appointed Chief President of the Klevian government. From 1725 to 1728, he was governor in Neuchatel . In 1734 he was the real secret budget minister, Klevisch-Märkischer secret district president and chancellor and in 1735 he was still curator of the then Klev State University of Duisburg . After Friedrich Wilhelm's accession to the throne in 1740, Strünckede accepted the tribute of the Klevian estates. He was buried on January 31, 1742 in the hereditary funeral in the Dionysius Church in Herne.
