Krudenburg

The Burghaus Krudenburg , also known as Crudenborgh or later Crudenburg , is a former knight's seat in the eponymous district of Krudenburg in the municipality of Hünxe on the Lower Rhine in the Wesel district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

It was first mentioned in documents in 1363, when the knight Rutger von Boetzelaer bought the fief of Count Johann von Kleve as an open house with the fishing in the Lippe and the water mill. Already in 1392 the knight Goswin Stecke was enfeoffed with the Krudenburg.

In 1502 the widow of Goswin IV married the Count of Holstein-Schauenburg, who thereby received the Krudenburg. The castle was pledged in 1642 to the Counts of Velen , who decided in 1694 to sell the Krudenburg estate. The buyer was the General of the Cavalry Baron Johann Siegmund von Heyden (Haus Bruch). His granddaughter Charlotta Wilhelmina married the baron von Graevenitz and then in 1739 the baron Sigismund von Strünkede (1704–1749).

After a short interim with the third husband of Charlotta Wilhelmina von Heiden , the former preacher on Krudenburg, Johann Vietor, the son of Strünkeder Baron Sigismund Carl was enfeoffed with the Krudenburg in 1785. In 1797 he sold the rule of Krudenburg to the Baron von Quadt at Gartrop Castle . The succession came in 1805 from Baron PDSM von Nagell, who sold Krudenburg to the Benninghoff family on August 1, 1827. Most of the castle was demolished in 1893.

investment

A two-story tower is still preserved from the former castle complex. A modern house, a barn converted for residential purposes and riding stables stand on the historical foundation walls . Parts are designated as a ground monument .
