The Strait of Roti ( Selat Rote in Indonesian ) is a strait in the Timor Archipelago of the Lesser Sunda Islands . It separates the islands of Semau and Timor in the north from Roti in the south. At the same time, the waterway connects the Sawu Sea in the west with the Timor Sea in the east. From the north, the Strait of Semau leads to the Strait of Roti between the islands of Timor and Semau.
Politically, the region belongs to the Indonesian province of East Nusa Tenggara .
