The Gottberg village church is a Protestant church in the Märkisch Linden district of Gottberg in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district in Brandenburg . The church is a monument .

Description and history

The church was originally a rectangular field stone building from the early Gothic , it was built in the 13th century. It has the shape of a hall and has a wide tower house under saddle roofs . The bell dates from 1570.

In 1638 the church was badly devastated. In 1733 the church was restored, as is evidenced by an inscription on the organ gallery. The west tower received its top floors. The baroque pulpit altar presumably also dates from this period. In 1902 the church was rebuilt and expanded. She received one in the organ workshop of Albert Hollenbach from Neuruppin built organ . The pulpit was replaced by a copy, the original became part of the Märkisches Museum in Berlin.

Fallen memorial

In the churchyard there is a memorial to the fallen that was designed by Ernst Harrich from Berlin and inaugurated on July 24, 1921. The memorial commemorates those who fell in World War I and the Wars of Liberation from 1813 to 1815 and the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71. It is a listed building.
