Kamjanske tram
The Kamjanske tram operates in the Ukrainian city of Kamjanske ( Dniprodzerzhynsk until 2016) and was opened on November 27, 1935. The tram was built in Russian broad gauge .
history
The railway has grown slowly but steadily since it was founded. Today it comprises a total of five lines. Driving is almost exclusively with ČKD Tatra vehicles . In 1994 the railway had a total of 175 vehicles and carried around 94,000,000 passengers over a distance of almost 83 kilometers.
On July 6, 1996, one of the most serious accidents involving a tram occurred. On a sloping track , the brakes failed on a train that was driving in double traction and it collided with a crossing train. A total of 34 were killed and 100 injured. As a result, double traction was banned.
