Strick is a district of Todtmoos and is located in the southern Black Forest at the foot of the Hochkopf at 1263 meters.

geography

On one side the Josefskapelle rises above the village, on the other side is the Kirchberg, on which a floodlit ski lift is operated in winter.

history

The history of the district goes back to the 17th century. In the beginning agriculture and typical Black Forest houses shaped the appearance.

Economy and Infrastructure

As in the entire spa town of Todtmoos, Todtmoos Strick is now fully dedicated to tourism.

The Hotel Rößle of the Maier family, the Chalet Hochkopf, which was named after the local mountain of the same name, or the Gästehaus Klingele have dedicated themselves to typical Black Forest hospitality.

Personalities

Two of the most famous “heads” were and still are the brothers Daniel & Theodor Schmidt. The photographer Carl Seuffert portrayed and marketed them on postcards that were distributed in the United States. The house of the two of them is still maintained today in the old tradition and is one of the defining buildings in the district.
