Strophios (son of Krisos)
Strophios ( Greek Στρόφιος , the clever one ), king of Phocis , is a figure in Greek mythology .
Strophios was the son of Krisos and Antiphateia . His wife Anaxibia , a sister of his friend Agamemnon , bore him the children Pylades and Astydameia . His nephew Orestes , the son of Agamemnon and Clytaimnestra , also grew up at his court .
Before Aulis , according to the myth, Agamemnon once sacrificed his daughter Iphigenia in order to get a cheap wind to Troy . When he returned to his homeland ten years later from the Trojan War , he was killed by his wife and her lover Aigisthus . To protect the young Orestes, the child was brought to Phocis - depending on the version by Clytaimnestra himself or by a wet nurse at the instigation of his sister Elektra - where he grew up in friendship with Strophios' son Pylades.
Pylades later married his cousin Elektra and named one of her sons Strophios as well .
