Stubbenfelde is a district of the municipality of Loddin on the island of Usedom with around 90 inhabitants.

Geography and traffic

Stubbenfelde is located in the eastern coastal section of the municipality of Loddin, between the Loddin district of Kölpinsee in the north-west and Ückeritz in the south-east.

The Teufelsberg is located on the border to Kölpinsse, between the lake of the same name and the sea . The cliff continues to the southeast as far as Ückeritz. The landscape is characterized by hills and a coastal forest dominated by beeches.

Stubbenfelde is on the federal road 111 . The Stubbenfelde stop is on the Züssow – Wolgast – Swinemünde line .

history

At Stubbenfelde in the direction of Loddin, evidence of a Bronze Age settlement (1800 to 600 BCE) was found during the establishment of an industrial area. This is proven by the earlier settlement of the area.

In 1825, the farmer Johann Laban from Ückeritz received a cut down forest from the Pudagla Forestry Office as compensation and called it his stump field .

In 1854 Stubbenfelde was officially named as "Stubbenfeld" for the first time. By 1880 a village on the road (later the B 111) had developed. In 1911 the line from Swinoujscie to Wolgast ferry was completed and Stubbenfelde was given a stop. Even up to 1920 nothing changed in the situation of the village in contrast to the other Baltic seaside resorts.

In 1950, a campsite was created between the town and the coast, albeit initially with modest facilities. After 1990 it was expanded and modernized. A structural connection has now been established between the old settlement on the road and the campsite. The settlement on the Teufelsberg also belongs to the place, the latter is predominantly a holiday settlement.

New steel stairs were built on the sheltered cliff to provide access from the campsite to the beach. The old wooden one was no longer safe enough.

tourism

Stubbenfelde, like the other Usedom bathing resorts, has a wide, fine-grained sandy beach, which makes the place particularly attractive for bathers. The cycle path running parallel to the coast and a network of smaller paths invite you to go hiking or cycling. The Kölpinsee is an attractive destination for hikers and anglers. As a district of Loddin , Stubbenfelde, together with Ückeritz , Koserow and Zempin, belongs to the Usedomer Amber Baths Association , whose aim is joint tourist marketing.
