The Studentendorf Schlachtensee eG , founded in 2002, is a service cooperative in Berlin that operates around 1300 residential units for students and visiting researchers at the Studentendorf Schlachtensee , Studentendorf Adlershof and IBZ Berlin locations . The company is based in the student village of Schlachtensee, which gives it its name. The corporate strategy of the cooperative is geared towards the management of apartments and shared apartments in the academic housing market (students and academics from Germany and abroad). According to the statutes, the cooperative promotes the "intercultural, dialogue-oriented and democratic coexistence of students and young scientists from all over the world". A special concern is therefore the preservation of the student village Schlachtensee as a national cultural monument and international meeting place.

In the 2014 financial year, the company with 36 employees achieved sales of 2.7 million euros at the end of the year.

history

The cooperative is closely linked with the history of the student village Schlachtensee, with the fight against the demolition of the property and against the sale of the space, as well as with the student self-administration (SV) of the student village. The Studentendorf Schlachtensee eG was founded in 2002 with the aim of securing, renovating and operating the student village of Schlachtensee of the same name . The establishment was largely a result of the campaign carried out by the residents against the demolition planned by the Berlin Senate . The purchase negotiations with the Liegenschaftsfonds Berlin began that same year. The negotiations were successfully concluded the following year with the acquisition of the property. Subsequently, the cooperative began to gradually bring disused and disused residential buildings back into operation. The renovation of the student village in accordance with listed buildings began in 2006.

With the sale of the student village in 2009 to the Swiss pension foundation CoOpera collective foundation PUK , with which a contract for a leasehold for 99 years was concluded, the cooperative focused on the operation and renovation of the student village and the creation of additional living space for students . Also in 2009, the cooperative took over as part of an agency contract the operation of the International Center of Sciences (IBZ) in Berlin-Wilmersdorf. In October 2014, a residential complex based on the example of Schlachtensee, the Adlershof student village, went into operation on the campus of the Humboldt University .
