The Adlershof Student Village is an ensemble of buildings for students in Berlin that was inaugurated in October 2014 .

Location and surroundings

The student village Adlershof is located in the south-east of Berlin's Treptow-Köpenick district in the Adlershof district . The residential complex is located in the immediate vicinity of the Adlershof campus of the Humboldt University with its scientific institutes and close to the Adlershof science and business location (WISTA). It was opened on October 21, 2014 and is part of efforts to establish the scientific and economic area not only as a place of work, but also as a place to live.

On the 11,000 m² property, ten buildings together with the gardens designed by the locodrom office form the Adlershof student village. In eight three-storey buildings there is space for 288 students in residential areas. In the residential landscapes, between 10 and 13 residents share a common area with a cooking, dining and seating area, around which the residents' individual rooms with their own bathroom are arranged. In the two four-story buildings along Abram-Joffe-Straße, single and double apartments complete the offer, so that there is space for a total of 386 students.

architecture

The architecture of the student village Adlershof is characterized by the so-called “thinker bay windows ”, each of which characterizes an individual residential unit. The “Thinker's Bay” is both a place of retreat and a view. The serially manufactured facade is loosened up by the different alignment of the bay window, the arrangement of the windows, the graying of the wooden cladding and the colored sun protection, giving each building its individuality.

The model for the residential and architectural concept is the student village Schlachtensee, unique in Germany and listed as a historical monument, in the south-west of Berlin. This applies in particular to the urban structure as a student village and to the community-oriented residential buildings.

Similar to the student village Schlachtensee, the central communal facilities are located on a central village square, the heart of the residential complex. This is where the student café with club, the rental office, a daycare center , a fitness studio, bike rooms and a post office with laundromat are located. Two further inner courtyards complete the landscape concept. The inner courtyards are play and adventure spaces for the residents and are dimensioned in such a way that communication across buildings is possible via the large-scale, glazed living areas.

The Berlin architectural office Die Zusammenarbeiter is responsible for the design . The starting point was a tender for the plot of land won in October 2010 and awarded by Adlershof-Projekt GmbH as part of the urban development project “Living on Campus”.

Financing and management

Financing partner for the student village Adlershof was the Swiss pension fund CoOpera Sammelstiftung PUK . The residential complex is operated by the Cooperative Studentendorf Schlachtensee eG , which is active in the Studentendorf Schlachtensee .
