The Studierendenwerk Koblenz is an institution under public law (AöR) of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate . Its statutory tasks according to Sections 112–116 HochSchG include the “social support, as well as economic and cultural support” for students at the university locations in Koblenz , Höhr-Grenzhausen and Remagen .
Supervised universities
The area of activity of the Studentenwerk includes the Koblenz campus of the University of Koblenz-Landau as well as the Rhine-Mosel campus Koblenz-Karthaus, the Rhein-Ahr campus Remagen and the Westerwald campus Höhr-Grenzhausen of the Koblenz University of Applied Sciences . In the 2017/2018 winter semester there were around 18,400 students at these locations.
Facilities
In Koblenz, the Studierendenwerk operates two residential complexes for students in Metternich and on the Karthauser with a total of 404 places, plus a residential complex in Remagen with 102 places. In Koblenz and Remagen there are a total of three day-care centers with a total of 12 groups and 146 places. In addition, the Studierendenwerk operates university catering at all locations in the form of canteens and cafeterias as well as a bistro on the university campus.

structure
The organs of the Studierendenwerk are the board of directors and the managing director.
The Board of Directors advises and decides on all matters of fundamental importance, in particular on the annual business plan. Other important tasks include passing resolutions on the articles of association and issuing and changing the contribution regulations.
The administrative board of the Studierendenwerk includes three professors, four students, one representative of public life and (alternately) the chancellor of the university or college with voting rights.
The managing director represents the student union externally and manages the day-to-day business.
financing
The Studierendenwerk is essentially financed from three sources:
- own service fees - especially from university catering and residential complexes
- Student social contributions and
- Subsidies from the state of Rhineland-Palatinate
