The STUDIO - Filmtheater am Dreiecksplatz is the oldest cinema still in operation in Kiel .

A movie theater in 1963

A few months after the beginning of the First World War , the cinema opened on December 23, 1914 under the name Palast-Lichtspiele , later it was called Capitol Kino , then from 1968 Studio . It was closed in the late 1990s. In 2002 the cinema operator Steffen Wietek reopened the house under the name Neues Studio . In 2009 the operator went bankrupt. On December 23, 2009 the cinema was reopened under the name STUDIO - Filmtheater am Dreiecksplatz . The current operators are Dennis Jahnke and Matthias Ehr.

Three of the four cinema halls are in play. The fourth was converted into a café when the new studio was reopened .

Special events

  • Original sound Monday: Every Monday the current films are shown as OV (original version without subtitles) or as OMU (original version with subtitles).
  • Sneak Preview: A sneak preview is held every Wednesday. That means there will be a preview and the audience will not know which film it will be. The sneak preview will be accompanied by raffles and supporting films.
  • Crime scene: on Sundays, the current crime scene or police call is shown in the bar or in the cinema.
