Studio stage at the German Department of the University of Bonn

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The studio stage at the German Department of the University of Bonn was an experimental theater stage at the University of Bonn in the 1960s and 1970s .

The German professor for modern languages and literature Benno von Wiese founded a student rehearsal stage at his seminar, which was under his direction and protection until the early 1960s. In the more restless later 60s he gave up for reasons of age and left the stage to the students themselves - according to their interests and ideas.

Intendance, direction, stage design and selection of the student actors were now determined collectively . The rectorate of the university provided a large rehearsal (cellar) room in the main building under the Art History Institute and financed the project through grants.

As a rule, one work was staged per semester and then performed publicly in large lecture hall 1 (theater hall) at the end of the semester, not only for fellow students but also for the citizens of Bonn.

For example:

The students, Klaus Lange, Eckhart Rüther, Hawe Kemen, Rainer Pause and others, couldn't get away from the stage.

In the 1970s, Rainer Pause in particular took over the management of the studio stage. He later became a full-time actor and successful cabaret artist in Bonn and founded his own Pantheon Theater in 1987 , which has become the leading cabaret theater in the Rhineland.
