Wolf Nöhren

Wolf Nöhren (* 1944 in Murnau am Staffelsee ) is a German architect and designer who lives and works in Kaiserslautern.

Life

Nöhren attended the humanistic grammar school in Bonn, studied architecture (and in preparation for it, he also completed an apprenticeship as a building and cabinet maker in Cologne) and was - during the semester break -: Employee at Fritz Wolters in the planning of the Münster regional airport (today: Münster International Airport / Osnabrück ) and with Paul Schneider-Esleben for the new building of the terminal building of the airport Cologne / Bonn as well as with the Planungsring Bonner Architekten for the competition: State Authority House , Bonn in the Ernst van Dorp office .

After passing the main diploma examination, he went on to study for a doctorate in art history and building history , philosophy and educational science at the University of Bonn (and later at the University of Mainz ). During his time in Bonn he also worked as a set designer and director on the studio stage at the German Department of the University of Bonn and staged We bombed in New Heaven by Joseph Heller .

From 1970 to 1973 Nöhren taught in Cologne as a lecturer for building history and design with Gernot Lucas at the Cologne factory schools , as a part-time teacher at the technical college for design and as a lecturer in the architecture department of the technical university . He then worked for the Stieldorf planning group of architects until 1980 and was involved in various new construction projects:

In 1980 he moved to the Mainz construction department of the Deutsche Bundesbank as a design architect for Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland . On behalf of the Bundesbank, he prepared preliminary drafts and reports for the buildings in Mainz, Speyer, Kaiserslautern, Bitburg, Saarlouis, Saarbrücken and Homburg (Saar).

He became known through the planning and implementation of the Bundesbank branch in Wittlich, an ecological building with green roofs, passive solar energy and natural ventilation.

Today Nöhren works as a freelance architect.

Wolf Nöhren was a friend and colleague of Dieter Flimm .
