Hour brother

Hour brother refers to a person who went to the “hour”, that is, to the “ Bible study ” especially of the Württemberg, Swabian Pietists .

Lifelong close friendships and social networks often developed in this outsider role.

The Palatinate dictionary defines hourly brothers as “strictly religious prayer brother; who attends or holds prayer lessons ". In German Dictionary is Wilhelm Schäfer with "soon were the hours brothers so much, That the churches were empty" quoted.
