Sturla Thórðarson
Sturla Þórðarson ( Latin Sturla Thordarson ; * July 29, 1214 , † July 30, 1284 ) was an Icelandic writer and skald .

Sturla was the author of legal texts and prose literature in the form of some sagas and compilations, including the oldest version of the Landnámabók , the Íslendinga saga and the Sturlunga saga . As a royal historian, he wrote treatises on Håkon IV (Norway) (1204–1263) and his son Magnus (1238–1280). He also wrote poetry .
Life
He was a nephew of Snorri Sturlusons . Like his uncle, Sturla was involved in the political disputes of his time. Domestically, he got into feuds among the family clans, also in relation to the dispute between the Icelandic independence movement (1263) and the Norwegian royal power ruling Iceland at the time under King Håkon IV (Norway) and his successor Magnus VI. (Norway) .
