Sturla (Genoa)

Sturla (in Ligurian : Stûrlâ ) is a district of the northern Italian port city of Genoa . The formerly independent fishing village is located with several small bays directly on the Gulf of Genoa . It belongs to the municipality IX - Levante and has a population of 8278.

In the 18th century the territory of today's Sturla belonged to the municipality of San Martino d'Albaro , while the village of Vernazzola belonged to San Francesco d'Albaro . Both were combined under the name Sturla in 1874 and incorporated into the city of Genoa.
