List of neighborhoods in Genoa

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Italian port city of Genoa is divided into nine municipalities .

Until March 24, 1997, the city was divided into 12 administrative districts, which were reduced to nine by resolution No. 25. On February 6, 2007, the municipal council (Italian: Consiglio comunale ) renamed the administrative districts into municipalities by means of the Regolamento per il decentramento e la partecipazione municipale .

A total of 31 parts of the capital are combined in these administrative units. Another part of the urban area is the port, which does not belong to any of the nine municipalities and 31 districts. This part of the city covers an area of 845.48 hectares, and is home to 78 residents (2008).

The population figures and area data refer to the year 2008.
