history

The series originated from the “City of Science” competition organized by the Stifterverband for German Science , in which 32 cities took part. The background to the competition was to inspire as many people as possible for the respective science location. Shortly afterwards, the Science Soap was recognized as one of ten winning projects and received 50,000 euros to implement the idea. As a result, the film production company Pinkau Interactive Entertainment produced a teaser for the award ceremony on June 4, 2012, which was supposed to convey the idea of a science soap as a collage of various images and graphic elements. Then the science marketing association Rostock thinks 365 ° and the then Senator for Youth and Social Affairs of the City of Rostock, Liane Melzer , worked on the project together with media representatives and film experts. Their concept was to create a five-part series with an open ending at a high level under the title “Storm of Knowledge”. The overall project was coordinated by Judith Platz-Greitsch.

The shooting took place between July 30th and August 16th, 2013. Most of the shooting was done in Rostock, scientific institutions in the Hanseatic city and on the steep coast of Ahrenshoop , Darß .
