Liane Melzer

Liane Melzer (born October 20, 1952 in Aschaffenburg ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 2008 to 2013 she was a Senator in Rostock and from 2013 to 2019 District Office Manager of Altona .

Life

Liane Melzer first studied law and did her doctorate at the University of Hamburg . Her dissertation is entitled The Legislation of the Council of People's Representatives (1918/1919): History of Development and Continuation (1988). After graduating, she worked as a lawyer in Hamburg . She headed the office of the Deputy Prime Minister in Kiel and worked in the legal office of the Hanseatic City of Rostock. She then took over as deputy head of the Senate Office for Equal Opportunities in Hamburg. In 2001 she became the department head for social affairs, youth, health and social space management in the Altona district office . In 2008 she took up the position of Senator for Youth and Social Affairs, Health, School and Sport, Culture in Rostock . On June 6, 2013 she was elected the first female district office manager. As a candidate for the SPD and the Greens, she received 29 out of 50 votes. With the beginning of her term of office on September 2, 2013, she succeeded the previous district office manager Jürgen Warmke-Rose (non-party). Her successor was Stefanie von Berg (Greens) on December 2, 2019 .
