Tela submucosa

The term tela submucosa , often also called tunica submucosa or submucosa for short , is understood in histology to mean the layer of tissue between the mucous membrane (tunica mucosa) and the muscle layer (tunica muscularis). The tela submucosa consists of loose connective tissue , many blood vessels and a vegetative nerve plexus ( plexus submucosus ). In addition, there are lymph vessels and, in places, glands in the tela submucosa .
