Substantia innominata
Substantia innominata ( Latin for an unnamed structure or structure without a name ) is part of the basal forebrain and consists of:
- ventral striatum
- Nucleus basalis Meynert
- centro-medial amygdala
It functions as a cholinergic projection system and is responsible for the threshold regulation of arousal and sleep and also influences learning, activation and thinking.
