The Suck ( Irish : An tSuca ) is a river in the Republic of Ireland and the main tributary of the Shannon .

The Suck, about 85 km long, runs between Counties Galway and Roscommon in a north-south direction and flows into the Shannon at Shannonbridge .

Ballinasloe is the largest town on the Suck.
