Sudeten German Cartel Association

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sudeten German Cartel Association (SCV) is the name given to two umbrella associations of Catholic student associations in the Sudetenland and Prague . One version of the umbrella organization existed as a working group within the Cartell Association , a later one as a split from it in analogy to the Austrian Cartell Association .

history

At the beginning of the 20th century there were student associations in Prague, Brno , Tetschen-Liebwerd and Pibrans (also called Freiberg in Bohemia). Ferdinandea Prague (today Heidelberg) was founded in 1886, Nibelungia Brünn (today Darmstadt) in 1899 , Vandalia Prague (today Munich) in 1905 , Saxo-Bavaria Prague (today Vienna) in 1907 , Nordgau Prague (Stuttgart, today Koblenz) in 1921, Elbmark Tetschen in 1922 Liebwerd (today Duisburg).

Over the years, these associations joined the Cartell Association of Catholic German Student Associations , 1896 Ferdinandea Prague, 1899 Nibelungia Brno, 1905 Vandalia Prague, 1907 Saxo-Bavaria Prague , 1922 Nordgau Prague and 1923 Elbmark Tetschen-Liebwerd. From 1927 they formed a working group within the Cartell Association, called Sudetendeutscher Cartellverband (1. SCV).

From 1933 the process of conformity with the introduction of the Führer principle and the resulting rapprochement with the National Socialist German Student Union began in the Cartell Association of German Catholic Student Associations (CV) . On June 14, 1933, the working group of the SCV therefore severely restricted its relations with the Cartell Association. Due to the burgeoning National Socialism, the Sudeten German CV connections decided to break away from the CV in July 1933. The result was 10: 2 for the formation of a "SCV Working Group". So the Sudeten German Cartell Association of the colored Catholic German student associations (2. SCV) was created as an independent umbrella organization on April 15, 1934. When the working group changed into its own independent association, Ferdinandea quit the collaboration and resigned.

The Montana Pribrans association was founded in Pibrans in 1934 and joined the SCV in 1935.

Although the annexation of Austria in March 1938 hardly affected Czechoslovakia, a kind of "Gleichschaltung euphoria" towards the Sudeten German Party arose among the Germans living there . This also affected the students, so that Saxo-Bavaria was the first to disband in May 1938, after the first application to abandon the catholic principle was rejected. Vandalia and Elbmark Tetschen-Liebwerd also decided to dissolve them in May 1938 and Nordgau Prague on August 15, 1938. This was equivalent to the dissolution of the Sudeten German Cartel Association.

After the Second World War , a re-establishment in Prague, Brno, Tetschen-Liebwerd or Pribrans was no longer possible due to the political situation. All Sudeten-German Cartel connections were established outside the Sudetenland, five in Germany and one in Austria, Saxo-Bavaria Prague to Vienna. The Montana Pribrans was not re-established, but merged after the Second World War with KDStV Ferdinandea Prague , which was based in Heidelberg.
