Sudhir Ranjan Majumdar ( Bengali সুধীর রঞ্জন মজুমদার ; * May 18, 1934 ; † January 4, 2009 ) was an Indian politician of the Indian National Congress and held the office of Chief Minister of Tripura from February 5, 1988 to February 18, 1992 .

Before his political career, Majumder worked as a school teacher. Since 1960 he was a member of the Congress Party. He was elected to the state parliament three times (1983 in the constituency of 5-Khayerpur , 1988 and 2008 in the constituency of 8-Town Bordowali ) and was a member of the Rajya Sabha , the upper house of the Indian parliament , from 1992 to 1998 .

On August 20, 1999, Majumder joined the Trinamool Congress , a 1998 split-off from the Congress Party in West Bengal. The reason he gave was that the congress party leadership was making too much of a deal with the Communist Party (Marxists) CPI (M), which was dominant in Tripura . In a by-election in the Lok Sabha constituency of East Tripura on February 25, 2002, however, he ended up as a Trinamool candidate only far behind. He later rejoined the Congress Party.

Majumdar was married. He died of a heart attack at the age of 74.
