history
Due to the liberalization and unbundling of the energy markets in the European Union , the company was founded on June 27, 2007 by the municipality of Esch an der Alzette. On July 1, 2008, the operative business and the takeover of electricity customers from the Escher municipality began. On November 27th, 2009 the first household outside the municipality of Esch an der Alzette was supplied and on January 1st, 2010 the first major customer outside of the municipality of Esch an der Alzette was delivered. On January 15, 2013, Sudstroum opened its first charging stations for electric cars at Brillplatz in Esch an der Alzette .
