Sue Harnett (born November 1956 in Chicago ) is an American bank manager. Sue Harnett is married and has two children. From May 2004 to November 2007 she was CEO of Citibank Privatkunden AG & Co. KGaA, based in Düsseldorf .

Harnett studied communications at Marquette University and graduated in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree . She later continued her studies at Northwestern University in Evanston / Chicago, where she obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in 1991 .

Professional career

In 1979, Harnett began her career at Citibank , where she worked in various branches and in various positions, primarily in the retail banking business, including as Chief Operating Officer for Federal Savings Bank . In 1997 she took over responsibility for the credit card and private customer business for Citibank in Canada . In 1999, the bank manager followed her long-time foster father, the Belgian Jean-Paul Votron , to the Dutch ABN Amro , for whom she set up an e-commerce division . In 2001, Harnett and Votron returned to Citigroup , which was formed from Citibank and Travelers Group in 1998 .
