Suez Steel is an Egyptian steel company based in Adabia on the Suez Canal . Until 2006, the company was 78-80 percent owned by Banque du Caire , a state-owned bank from Cairo .

In 2006 the responsible Egyptian ministry announced its intention to privatize the bank's shares in the steel company . The company had produced 600,000 tons of steel in 2005. There were plans to sell 30 to 35 percent of the company's shares to Arab investors.

Apparently the internationally active Lebanese Litat Group has held a majority stake in the company since 2006.
