Suhaib Gasmelbari

Suhaib Gasmelbari (* 1979 in Sudan ) is a Sudanese filmmaker. Gasmelbari lived in Sudan until he was 16 and then studied film at the Univérsité Paris VIII . With his feature film debut Talking About Trees he won the Glashütte Original Documentary Award and the Audience Award at the Berlinale 2019 . He previously worked as a freelance cameraman and editor for Al Qarra , Al Jazeera and France 24 . As a director and screenwriter, he made several short fictional and documentary films. Gasmelbari is committed to the preservation and digitization of historical Sudanese films.
