The steamship Suldal is a museum ship in Norway , which in the summer months in Suldal in the Fylke Rogaland is used for tourist rides.

history

The ship, also known as “Suldalsdampen” , or “Sultendampfer” , was built in 1884 at the Støberi & Dok shipyard in Stavanger . In 1953 the old steam engine was replaced by a modern diesel engine. It was used in the liner service as a passenger ship on the route from Nesflaten to Suldalsosen . After it was decommissioned as an excursion ship in the 1980s, it served as a reserve ship until it was used again as a tourist attraction from the port of Suldal for excursions in the mid-1990s after extensive renovations .

Today the owner is the non-profit community of interests Foreningen Suldalsdampen (Association Suldalsdampfer).
