Sulfinic acid halides or sulfinyl halides are a group of substances in organic chemistry described by the general formula R – S (= O) –X. In them, a sulfinyl group is linked both to an organic radical (–R) and to a halogen atom (–X); they are thus descendants of the sulfinic acids . In terms of their oxidation state, they are between the sulfenyl halides and the sulfonic acid halides .
Formally, they represent the thia analogues of the carboxylic acid halides .
