Sultan Qaboos Environment Prize

The Sultan Qaboos Prize for Environmental Preservation is a biennial award given by UNESCO and donated by the Sultan of Oman , Qabus ibn Said . The purpose of the award is to guarantee recognition to those who have distinguished themselves through their outstanding contributions in the field of management or conservation of the environment. Prize winners can be individuals, groups, institutes or organizations.

The award consists of a diploma and a grant of $ 70,000. The award takes place during the World Science Forum .

  • 2009: Autonomous Authority for National Parks (OAPN) (Spain).
  • 2011: Institute for Forest Research of Nigeria (Nigeria)
  • 2013: State Forests National Forest Holding of Poland (Poland) and The Endangered Wildlife Trust (South Africa)
  • 2015: Fabio A. Kalesnik, Horacio Sirolli and Luciano Iribarren from the Wetlands Ecology Research Group at the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina)
