The house of the Kiev charity "Sulymiwka" ( Ukrainian Будинок Київського доброчинного товариства "Сулимівка" ) is a building erected between 1833 and 1835 in the Ukrainian capital Kiev .
history
The two-story building, built in Empire style from 1833 to 1835 by the architect L. Stansani for the merchant W. Sulyma, a descendant of the ataman Ivan Sulyma , is the oldest house on the street and has been an architectural monument of the city of Kiev since 1979. After the builder's will, the building, which was not completely finished, was bequeathed to the city of Kiev, which set up a homeless, orphanage and old people's home next to a hospital, a girls' hostel and a school workshop. At the opening of the charity in 1859, the Russian Tsar Alexander II was present. On the left side of the house, a chapel with an onion dome was built in honor of Alexander Newski in 1866 . The pillar portico of the house was demolished during further renovations. After the Bolsheviks had banned all charities, the chapel was demolished in 1923 and the building complex was converted into a residential and office building in 1928.
location
The building is located in Pechersk Stadtrajon on Ljuteranska Street ( Ljuteranska wulyzja ) number 16 in downtown Kiev.
