Sun Public License

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sun Public License (SPL) is an open source license that is intended to cover software and APIs from Sun Microsystems ( e.g. NetBeans ). The license is recognized by the Free Software Foundation (FSF) as a free software license and by the Open Source Initiative (OSI) as an open source license . The SPL was derived from the Mozilla Public License .

Sun Microsystems uses another open source license, the Sun Industry Standards Source License (SISSL) (formerly for OpenOffice.org ). However, this license will no longer be used in the future. Sun would like to curb the flood of different licenses with similar backgrounds significantly in the future and thus follows the company Intel , which also wants to crush its house license Intel Open Source License .
