The Sunda fish owl ( Ketupa ketupu ) is a Southeast Asian species of owl.
features
The 45 cm long Sunda Fischuhu is colored dark brown on the top and orange-brown and dark on the underside. He has big, yellow eyes, feather ears. The legs are bare, the soles of the feet have sharp-edged, prickly scales so that fish can be held in place with the long, curved claws. The Sunda Fischuhu lacks the soft feathers that make the flight of most owls almost silent. The soft, melodic call consists of two tones.
Occurrence
The Sunda fish owl lives in dense forests near waters in Southeast Asia from Thailand to Malaysia and Indonesia to Myanmar .
behavior
During the day this bird rests in dense vegetation. At night he hunts for fish and amphibians from a seat guard . Rodents, reptiles and invertebrates are also part of the diet. Two to three eggs are incubated in a nest in a rock cave, in a tree, or in the nest of another large bird.
